What Health Problems Might
Occur from Molds?

Indoor mold exposure does not always present a health problem. Some people, however, may be more sensitive to molds. People with allergies, asthma, compromised immune systems or other lung diseases can experience health problems when exposed to mold. Those with compromised immune systems, including infants, or lung diseases are particularly susceptible to fungal infections as a result to mold exposure.

A variety of ailments have been attributed to mold exposure. These ailments range from the more common, allergy-like symptoms, to the more rare, severe reactions. The effects of mold may depend on various factors such as: the type of mold involved, the metabolic byproduct of the mold, the type of contact, the length of contact and the susceptibility of the person. Systems of mold exposure include:

RESPIRATORY PROBLEMS:
  • Nasal and Sinus Congestion

  • Wheezing and Shortness of Breath

  • Sore throat

  • Dry, hacking cough

  • Tingling and burning in nose, throat and mouth


  • DERMAL PROBLEMS:
  • Skin rash

  • Burning Sensation


  • DIGESTIVE PROBLEMS:
  • Nausea

  • Vomiting

  • Diarrhea


  • VASCULAR PROBLEMS:
  • Nose bleeds

  • Hemorrhaging of Body Tissue


  • NEUROLOGICAL PROBLEMS:
  • Constant headaches

  • Dizziness

  • Memory loss


  • OTHER PROBLEMS:
  • Fever

  • Eye irritation, such as burning, watering, reddening,
        blurred vision, and light sensitivity

  • Chronic fatigue

  • Immune System Problems

  • Fungal Infections

  • Urinary Problems

  • Reproductive Problems, including possible infertility
