Rudy R. Perrino is an associate with Gordon & Rees, LLP. Mr. Perrino's practice focuses primarily on environmental, toxic tort and business litigation. Mr. Perrino's practice necessarily involves a significant amount of advocacy at the state and federal regulatory levels.
Mr. Perrino has defended numerous cases involving claims of personal injury, property damage and business loss caused by environmental contamination and toxic exposure. Mr. Perrino cases are typically large, complex multiparty environmental cases involving issues of multiple sources. Mr. Perrino has obtained several dismissals for the firm's clients on high exposure environmental and toxic tort cases. One of his most telling victories was obtaining a dismissal at the demurrer stage for a client named in a multi-billion dollar claim under the discharge provisions of California's Proposition 65.
Mr. Perrino has experience in handling matters at both the regulatory level and in litigation involving claimed liability under virtually every major environmental statute, including CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, Porter-Cologne and Proposition 65. In addition, Mr. Perrino has handled a number of permitting and land use issues in the context of applicable environmental laws.
He has worked closely with regulators from Regional Water Quality Control Boards (including SF), DTSC, County Departments of Environmental Health, CARB and the Integrated Waste Management Board.
Mr. Perrino's business practice includes defending and prosecuting claims for business defamation, interference with contract, unfair business practices and other commercial claims.
Mr. Perrino's representations include major chemical and petroleum manufacturers, distributors, commercial lending institutions, contractors, consulting firms and public entities.
Mr. Perrino obtained his J.D. from the University of San Diego. While studying at USD, Mr. Perrino received several honors and distinctions, including the highest grade in Constitutional Law, Intellectual Property, International Business Litigation Internship and Lawyering Skills. In addition, Mr. Perrino placed in several moot court competitions and was actively involved in intramural sports. Mr. Perrino obtained his bachelors degree from the University of California, Riverside. Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Perrino worked for several years as an environmental consultant on several large, high profile Superfund sites throughout California and Arizona.
