Laura L. Geist is a partner with Gordon & Rees. Ms. Geist joined Gordon & Rees in 1996, after first practicing intellectual property and insurance coverage litigation at another Bay Area firm. Ms. Geist is the Practice Group Leader of the Commercial Litigation Group in San Francisco. She specializes in class action defense, defense of Unfair Competition and Unfair Business Practices, and is active in life insurance and financial services litigation including market conduct and annuity sales practices, FINRA (formally NASD) arbitrations, broker-dealer disputes and defense of corporate directors and officers.
In addition to financial services, as a member of the Insurance Practice Group, Ms. Geist is experienced in complex insurance coverage and litigation involving D&O, life products, environmental, commercial, property and employment claims. Ms. Geist also conducts in-house seminars for clients on coverage and bad faith issues, as well as helping clients develop insurance products.
In 2009, Ms. Geist was named by Rising Stars magazine as one of the top attorneys in Northern California in Business Litigation, Class Action/Mass Torts, and Insurance Coverage. The selection of "Rising Stars" is made by Law & Politics, the publisher of Rising Stars magazine, which conducts annual independent research to determine the top up-and-coming attorneys who are 40 years old or younger or who have been practicing for 10 years or less. No more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state are named to the Rising Stars list.
